Susan’s bio in her own words –
‘Fine Art and particularly Oil Painting, has always been a joy to me – opening up a very busy life teaching, painting, and exhibiting. I have travelled extensively around the world with my late husband and daughters over a period of 30 years living in 6 different countries. The UK, New Zealand, Malaysia, and Borneo, the Philippines plus many cities around Australia including Perth, Darwin, Katherine, Sydney Port Hedland and Bunbury.
During this time I met and joined artists living in some of the most remote regions including an outback art group in Katherine Northern Territory called ‘The Loose Group’.
I attended Art Coursed throughout Australasia and Fine Art College in the busy jungle town of Bintulu in Borneo. It was amazing. It was even an experience getting there each day. Locals travel by river to get to town.
Attending Charles Darwin University NT, Australia, where I was studying for my teaching qualifications, I was ‘trained to teach’ in the exclusive company of Outback Nurses, Prison Officers, Jackaroos and Jillaroos all of whom were teaching their chosen professions to others. We had some fascinating conversations!!
I taught at Burton Manor, for West Cheshire College for 10 years. Altringham Art Society Manchester, Frodsham Art Society and also my own private workshops at Caldy Valley, and currently enjoy the wonderful Okell’s Garden Centre where my workshops are regularly held.
During each of my workshops we always paint endless varieties of styles, subjects – study famous art movements, Artists, their methods and techniques – we use all manner of items to paint with including decorator brushes and palette knives.
Most importantly we concentrate on developing personal styles and get creative!!’
